A Short Walking Holiday in rural Dorset
Home Farm House is pleased to announce Walking for Wellness Breaks starting in Spring 2024. Situated in the heart of the beautiful Dorset countryside HfH sits adjacent to the Earl of Shaftesbury’s, private 400 acre parkland, and he has kindly given permission for us to use the parkland as an integral part of the programme. Jayne and Graham have always had an innate belief in the restorative benefits of early morning sunlight and fresh air, and after attending Julia Bradbury’s promotional talk at the Dorchester Literary Festival for her new book “Walk Yourself Happy” they now know a little of the science behind their belief.
In the morning you will be accompanied by Jayne and/or Graham on a 45 minute walk through the Earl’s grounds making the most of the morning sun, which is scientifically proven to enhance natural chemicals to kick start our day with several benefits for both physical and mental health.
During the walk you will be encouraged to join your guides in breathing, stretching and suppleness practises, helping to strengthen your bones, muscles and heart, although if you just want to enjoy the peace and tranquillity that’s fine too. You may catch a glimpse of the parkland deer, as well as hear the morning birdsong. Weather permitting we will head through the woodland grabbing a little forest bathing and what the Japanese call Komorebi.
Once back at Home Farm House you can “ground yourself” standing barefoot on the lawn, reconnecting with the Earth. You will be treated to Jayne’s tasty home cooked breakfast, home made bread, local natural produce with as few UPFs as possible, setting you up for the day ahead.
After breakfast join Jayne and Graham on a guided walk for which an itinerary and more details would be discussed on booking.
Return to HfH to freshen up and enjoy a sumptuous home cooked supper followed by an optional short stroll to activate your digestion and metabolism before retiring for a well-earned good night’s sleep.
